/files/page_images/ACS.jpgAccording to the American
Cancer Society:

-In 2009 there were 1,479,350 new cancer cases in the United States.
- 50% of men will develop cancer in the course of their lives.
-33%of women will develop cancer in the course of their lives.
-The survival rates for all cancers have improved signifi cantly since the 1970s, due, in part, to both earlier detection and advances in treatment

What Cancer Cannot Do
Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple Love
It cannot shatter Hope
It cannot corrode Faith
It cannot destroy Peace
It cannot kill Friendship
It cannot suppress Memories
It cannot silence Courage
It cannot invade the Soul
It cannot steal eternal Life
It cannot conquer the Spirit

 We are surrounded by Survivors
Survivors is a community of men and
women who have been touched by
cancer. Some of us are in treatment.
Others of us are caregivers. We meet on
a monthly basis to give each other
support & encouragement.

-We find comfort in hearing stories of
courage.
-We find comfort as we reflect, meditate
on and claim the clear promises found in
the Word of God, the Bible.
-We gain insights from visiting speakers
who address the issues we deal with on a daily basis. [Recent topics have
included: Stress & Cancer, The Role of
Exercise, Establishing your personal
health file, Nutrition during & after cancer
treatment, and Sleep Disorders]
-We gain power through both tears and
laughter as we pray for one another.
-We gain hope for both time & eternity
as we believe the words of Jesus found
in John 3:16. “For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.”

We meet as Survivors from 7:00 to
8:30PM usually on the 4th Tuesday of
each month from September through
June at Grace Chapel. We meet in an
accessible room and provide light
refreshments. We welcome those
dealing with cancers of all types,
caregivers of cancer patients, and
others who seek to understand and
encourage those who might be
struggling with the challenges of
cancer.
